Diabetes is a disease in which the body of the patient either can’t produce enough insulin needed for the available sugar/glucose or is unable to make use of the insulin available in it. Thus the sugar starts being collected in the blood.
So diabetes is literally a hormonal problem that may lead to even a few serious health issues like blindness, kidney failure, heart failure, diabetic neuropathy, and more If untreated timely. Globally, around 365 million people are suffering from this disease, out of which approx 70 million people are from India.
There are 2 major types of Diabetes, which are described below:
Type 1 Diabetes : This type of diabetes requires insulin for its treatment. Hence, it is also referred to as insulin-dependent diabetes. Typically, young people or children are affected by this disease. The one affected by this type of diabetes can’t produce any insulin in its body. That’s because the disease causes the destruction of the pancreatic cells in the body.
Type 2 Diabetes: Generally, this type of diabetes affects people with an age of above forty-five years and with extra body weight. Type 2 is the most common type of diabetes and people suffering from it are not able to generate or make enough insulin in their body. So the sugar is built up or collected in their blood. This type of Diabetes is also referred to as non-insulin dependent diabetes.
Diabetes is not caused by any chemical or biotic attack from the outside of the body. Rather, it is the result of internal chemical imbalance. Unlike the allopathic system of medical treatment, Ayurveda treats the whole body, not just the individual body parts, of the patient suffering from the disease. Whereas the allopathic system of treatment works on the principle of treating the various symptoms caused by the disease by prescribing different medicines for different symptoms.
When it comes to diabetes treatment in Ayurveda, a single medicine of Ayurveda is capable of working with multiple health issues associated with diabetes such as sugar metabolism, muscle weakness, and so on. Moreover, the Ayurvedic treatment is a natural treatment, there are generally no side effects. So it can be a wise decision to consider treating diabetes with Ayurveda.
Ayurvedic medicines are extracted from different parts of different trees and plants. Such medicines help in repairing and even strengthening the insulin-production gland in the body.
It is also sometimes noticed that different people have different symptoms for the same disease. So it’s better to make an analysis of the patient’s body rather than just working on symptoms. This is how Ayurveda approaches. Ayurveda analyses and classifies the bodies of patients into 3 different types. These 3 types of body are Vata, Pitta & Kapha. Thus on the basis of this categorization of the nature of the human body, the patient is given the most suitable treatment.
In Ayurveda, it is considered that each physical disease has its main root on the mental part of the body. So its treatment approach doesn’t consider the mind and body two separate parts, rather considers the body as a whole. So the treatment works for the whole body and not just for an individual part.
Allopathic medicines may cause the pancreas to weaken in long term by making it overwork. Thus after consuming these medications for a few years, the patient gets into need of insulin intake. And, on the other hand, when it comes to treating diabetes with Ayurveda, Ayurvedic medication repairs and strengthens the Pancreas instead of weakening it. Ayurvedic treatment focuses on root cause of any disease and helps fix the problem naturally by supporting natural process of body’s own immune system. Ayurveda has almost NO Side Effects if diagnosed and treated by proper ayurvedic expert or vaidya.
